Bradford beating diabetes celebration and awards ceremony
Event date: 12 April 2016
More than 50 people came together to celebrate, including healthcare assistants, practice nurses, BBD champions and staff from NHS Bradford City and NHS Bradford Districts Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
BBD was setup initially by Bradford City CCG to help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes amongst people in Bradford and make the public be aware, be in control, be active and be healthy.
The CCGs recognised 30 healthcare assistants and practice nurses with awards for their work with patients to prevent diabetes.
10 BBD champions also received their ‘BBD champions course certificates’, which means they will be able to run courses and support more people in Bradford to reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The Primary Care Training Centre also handed out awards to healthcare assistants and to our new BBD champions for ‘preventing diabetes’ and a Royal Society for Public Health Award (level 2) in ‘understanding health improvement’.
